FastSync can be installed onto a LAN (Local Area Network), and multiple computers on the LAN can access and run FastSync, but the results might not be what you expect. FastSync uses the COMM port and the modem that are attached to the computer where FastSync is running, not the computer which contains the hard disk where FastSync is stored. For example, FastSync and its files can be stored on the network file server, but when a workstation runs FastSync, the software expects to be using the COMM Port and modem at the workstation. Multiple copies of FastSync can be run from the file server, but each workstation must have its own modem containing special FastSync 3780 firmware.
Running directly from the file server is not recommended, because FastSync expects its configuration files to be in the default directory, which is usually the directory where the software is kept. It is possible to minimize the number of files at the workstation by including the drive and directory where FastSync is stored in the Workstation's search path and keeping the required configuration files in a directory on the workstation.
Add the FastSync directory to the path with the command SET PATH = %PATH%;N:\3780. Replace the "N" with the drive letter for your shared drive. Replace the "\3780" with the directory where FastSync 3780 program is stored.
The following configuration files must be present in the current default directory on the workstation when FastSync is run:
Report files, trace files and default receive files will all go into the current default directory (not the server) by default.
The FastSync 3780 Windows version has certain advantages over the Text Based 3780 version. For example, you could map to different COMM ports on different PCs within your LAN environment and therefore run your communication's links through different modems.

IMPORTANT NOTE: A SPECIAL LICENSE IS REQUIRED TO RUN FASTSYNC 3780® WITHIN A NETWORK ENVIRONMENT IF MORE THAN ONE NODE IN THE NETWORK HAS A MODEM WHICH CAN RUN THE COPY OF FASTSYNC STORED ON THE FILE SERVER.
