FastSync® 3780 BSC RJE Emulation |
For the Industries Fastest 3780 BSC Remote Job Entry (RJE) File Transfers. Possibly best feature? This 3780 emulation product can be operated without any synchronous interface device! (1) |
Where 1,200 bps to 128,000 bps 3780 BSC file transfers are called for over Standard Switched Dial-Up Analog or ISDN [Digital] lines, FastSync is the best solution available.
Technical Definitions. BSC (Binary Synchronous Communications) protocol using binary data between mainframe computer systems and IBM 2780 and 3780 Remote Job Entry terminals (now generally PCs). An IBM protocol which is one of the two commonly used methods of encoding data for transmission between devices in Mini and Mainframe computer systems. Data characters are gathered in a package called a frame that is marked by two (bi) start and stop synchronization bits. It operates with EBCDIC or ASCII character sets. Versus Asynchronous Transmission - a method of communications between computers whereby data bytes are separated from each other by preceding each with one or two start bits and following each one with a stop bit. Bytes may be sent at irregular intervals. (Note - in synchronous transmission, a clock is used instead of start and stop bits). RJE (Remote Job Entry) A method of submitting work to and from a computer (usually a mainframe system) in a batch A3780" (BSC) or A3770" (SNA) format. Though sometimes superseded by the 3270 interactive (versus Batch) system, it is widely used in some installations, especially within market niches like: Electronic Data Interchange (EDI); EC (Electronic commerce), electronic tax filing (to IRS); credit card verifications (Banking); large CAD file transfers; and other similar markets. |

Software Overview FastSync 3780 from CTI is a very fast, easy to install, easy to use, powerful, and feature rich 3780/2780 IBM Remote Job Entry (RJE) bisynchronous file transfer program for Micro-to-Mainframe, Mainframe-to-Micro, and PC-to-PC communication applications. The software is Y2K Compliant. The code was initially developed in the 1970s and has now matured into a true third generation software product. FastSync was designed for absolutely error free, maximum high speed data transfers. For a list of program Commands along with a quick overview, click here. It operates not only over standard analog type Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) lines, but also over the newer, digital ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) Basic Rate Interface (BRI) lines. Depending upon your operating system, if you already own either an internal synchronous card or internal modem board listed below, you may only need to purchase FastSync software (note - in some cases, speed will be affected by the particular interface card):
Synchronous Internal Remote Cards known to operate with
FastSync 3780:
|
|
Sample synchronous interface card: used
for older communication protocols such as Bell 201c and Bell208b interfaces.

Synchronous Internal Modem Boards known to operate with
FastSync 3780:

The FastSync software has been ported to many existing and older synchronous interface cards and modem-boards. Therefore, if your company owns one of these cards and/or boards, you could save money by purchasing software only. Feel free to contact CTI directly and discuss this possibility. For other companies who have several products in the field and want to standardize on FastSync, a 70% discount is offered for competitive up-grades/exchanges where applicable.
FastSync will operate on most synchronous oriented modems, however we suggest those modems that have auto dialing capabilities. Call CTI regarding digital Terminal Adapters.
2,400 bps & 4,800 bps Synchronous Bell Modems:

|
Recommended ISDN 56,000 - 128,800bps Terminal Adaptors U.S. Robotics Courier I-Modem family or ARESCOM ISDN Products.
Note: Other modems not on this list are known to operate with FastSync software and/or related hardware. Call CTI if you have questions.
| Here is what any good 3780 package should provide as basic functions: Basic program handles all IBM 2780 and 3780 protocol standards. Plus, such things as Auto Dial (with selected modems), Auto Answer, sending and receiving both Binary (Transparent) and Text (Non-Transparent) files, support for space compression, multiple records per block, user-definable receive and transmit timeout retries, a built-in line trace facility for problem determination, the capability of specifying receive file names when sending files to compatible systems, along with the capability of sending single records from either the keyboard or from command (script-batch-job) files. Operates either as a Master or Slave for PC to PC communications. Automatic conversion from/to EBCDIC/ASCII. User defined Tables for printer Vertical Format Unit (VFU) commands. Supports switched (dial-up), leased lines & ISDN. Hot Key capability to run either system commands or stand-alone application programs without ending the communications session. |
