When you need to interface into Bell Atlantic's mainframe host using 3780 protocol, you need to include a specific Hayes "AT" string into your FastSync® command file.  We discovered that Bell Atlantic is using older V.32 9,600 bps modems that don’t know how to handle v.34 (33,600 bps) training tones.  Therefore, by limiting the Hayes Optima modem to 9,600 baud with an "ATS37=9" command, you will be able to logon to their host mainframe.

Your command file will look something like this:

ATS37=9
.CALL,1-xxx-xxx-xxxx (retries 3)
.MESSAGE,[logon information]
.SEND,[yourfile]
.EXIT

This information was determined when Todd Logan (Wisor Telecom) needed to connect into Bell Atlantic.  Wisor Telecom, headquartered in Rockville, Maryland, is an innovative company that specializes in delivering highly scalable telecommunications operational support systems for Integrated Communications Providers (ICP).
