Unattended Operation

With Cleo 3780Plus, you can write simple scripts that run your batch transfer applications automatically, at any time, with no user interaction required.  You can, for example, specify unattended transmissions at night or on weekends, when dial-up communications charges are reduced.  Whatever you do with Cleo 3780Plus interactively, you can also do in unattended mode.  That's because all of the software's commands are available to you in the scripting language.   Our scripting language supports "branch" logic, allowing you to use "IF...THEN..." commands within your scripts.  You can even branch to other programs based on exit codes.

Auto-Dial, Auto Answer

Cleo 3780Plus provides commands for automatically dialing your modem and instructing your modem to wait a specified amount of time for an incoming call.  Modem autodialing capabilities include :

  • Universal Data Systems (UDS) BSC
  • Racal-Vadic Synchronous Autodialing Language (SADL)
  • V.25bis - the CCITT dialing standard
  • Hayes AT Command Set for speeds of up to 38.4Kbps

Perpetual Log File

Cleo 3780Plus maintains a complete on-line record of your 2780/3780 communications activities in its perpetual log file.  This handy tool allows you to review all past Cleo 3780Plus transactions - from your very first session to the one you've just completed.

Modem Support

Cleo 3780Plus is designed for use with almost any major external synchronous modem and selected internal modem boards.  Modems can be full or half duplex.  Cleo works with short-haul modems, two or four-wire leased lines, and standard dial-up telephone connections.  Line speeds of up to 38.4Kbos are supported.

Flexible Configuration

Cleo 3780Plus provides a wide range of configuration options, allowing you to fine-tune your communications environment at any time - from session to session, or even within a session.   Configuration changes in one session can be stored to disk and re-used in later sessions.  This is specially useful in multi-host installations, where you may use a different configuration for each host.

Custom Screens and Messages

You can easily modify your Cleo 3780Plus screens and messages, if your applications demand it.  For example, you can translate screens and messages to other languages for international use.  Alternatively, you can, disable any or all screen messages for seamless integration with your other applications.   You can even customize Cleo 3780Plus' ASCII-to-EBCDIC translation tables, when required.

Transmit Commands
  • Binary (filename)  With the Binary command, you can send files to remote computers in transparent mode with or without ASCII-to-EBCDIC character translation.
  • Text (filename)  The Text command transmits text files to remote computers in non-transparent mode.  Cleo 3780Plus handles ASCII-to-EBCDIC character translation automatically.
  • Key (message)  The Key command transmits keyboard messages to remote computers during Cleo 3780Plus sessions.
  • EOT  The EOT command transmits the EOT (End of Transmission) character to end a file transfer.
Receive Commands
  • Receive (filename)  The Receive command receives transparent or non-transparent binary or text data to a disk file.   Cleo 3780Plus automatically determines whether or not the data should be translated from EBCDIC to ASCII.  No user intervention is required.
  • Print (filename)  With the Print command, you can receive printer output to a file.  You can then use Cleo 3780Plus to spool this file to the printer.  Cleo 3780Plus translates the 3780 printer escape codes to the correct actions.
  • Screen  The Screen command displays non-transparent data to the screen.
Scripting Commands
  • Job (filename)  With the Job command, you can create a  new Cleo 3780Plus script, or you can scramble or encode an existing script to protect sensitive information.

    • Branch n status
    • Branch on return code
    • Branch on SIZE
    • Branch on COUNTER
    • Branch on TRUE
  • Counter  With the Counter commands, you can initialize, increment, decrement, and display counter settings.   You can  use Cleo 3780Plus' built-in counters to loop or retry a command a specified number of times.  This adds flexibility to your scripts.
  • Sleep (seconds)  The Sleep command pauses the specified number of seconds before proceeding to the next command.   You can use this to provide pauses between commands, when required.
  • Token (tokens)  With the Token command, you can set or display the value of the user-defined variables at any time.   You can also set tokens before executing Cleo 3780Plus.  When you use the Token command in your Cleo 3780Plus scripts, you gain the flexibility to dynamically alter the flow of commands in response to varying communications scenarios.
