The most popular package for 3780 File Transfers including a bisync modem is the SyncPack2000e

FastSync® 2780 & 3780 BSC RJE Software Overview

Definition of 3780: 3780 Remote Job Entry.  A Binary Synchronous (BSC) protocol.  A method of submitting work either to or from a mainframe (and/or another PC) in a batch format.  Developed by IBM in the 1970s and initially called “2780,” later it became "3780."  Because of its inherent error correcting and data reliability, this protocol is widely used within many industries and applications.  3780 BSC operates within all electronic data commerce environments.  A few examples include: Automotive (Releases, ASNs; and CAD/CAM/CAE/CIM file transfers), Retail (Point-of-Sale applications), Government (IRS Electronic Tax Filing), Transportation (Shipping & Trucking EDI), Banking/Financial (Automatic Teller Machines, Lock Boxes, Credit Card Verifications, Electronic Fund Transfers, Check Clearing), Health Care (Medical and Medicaid Billing), and Federal Reserve Transactions.  The most popular 3780 package marketed by CTI is the SyncPack2000e package (it doesn't require the use of an expensive synchronous interface card).

CTI’s version of the IBM 3780 protocol is called FastSync.  FastSync is a high-level, third generation micro-to-mainframe communications software program that supports both IBM 2780 and 3780 Bisynchronous Remote Job Entry (RJE) Protocols.  Besides handling RJE industry needs, the software has been enhanced to support the sophisticated and specialized Electronic Commerce market environment whose software houses require highly distinct interface capabilities.  Depending upon the particular FastSync product, it runs within either various DOS and Microsoft Windows environments.  FastSync is a registered trademark of CTI Communications.  All source code is owned by CTI.

The FastSync software has been ported to many existing and older synchronous interface cards and modem-boards.  Therefore, if your company owns one of these cards and/or boards, you could save money by purchasing software only.  Feel free to contact CTI directly and discuss this possibility.

CTI’s FastSync is the industry's fastest known 3780 software.  FastSync supports not only older 201c and 208a/b type modems, but also most V.32, V.34+ and V90 modems supporting synchronous transmissions.  Click here to see Speed Test Results.

FastSync can perform unattended, user defined "job" or "batch" files as well as execute system commands and/or programs from within FastSync while maintaining a "live" data link.  Block sizes can be defined from 80 to 3,000 characters for maximum throughput.

CTI has an enhanced version of FastSync 3780 based upon new technology developed in conjunction with Hayes Microcomputer Products, Inc. (now owned by Zoom Telephonics).  This allows the 3780 software to operate without the need of a synchronous interface card. The FastSync software operates through a standard asynchronous COM port to the appropriate Hayes synchronous modems.  This capability eliminates the need to open a computer and install an interface card(s) and/or to purchase expensive external synchronous modems.   Click here for SyncPack2000e Product package.

SyncPack 2000e Series (our most popular package)
(Enhanced FastSync
Software with External Hayes V34+ Modem)

The SyncPack® 2000e package consists of FastSync 3780 BSC Software along with the Hayes OPTIMA® 336 Business Modem which includes Asynchronous (230,400 bps) throughput and Synchronous capabilities (28,800 bps - 33,600 bps), plus V.17 FAX. The modem package also provides Password Security, Dial-Back and Remote Configuration. This package eliminates the need for either an internal or external synchronous device to run bi-synchronous software! Run both async and bisync through the same comm port. This means no more opening the PC, no more configuration of IRQs and I/O addresses. No more A/B switch boxes.

FastSync 3780 Software (enhanced version). This is a special Asynchronous and Bi-synchronous software version that handles on-the-fly character translation thus you do not have to install any type of internal synchronous card inside the computer. All of your communications flow directly through the PC’s standard serial port.

External Hayes OPTIMA 336 V.34 Business Modem. This modem supports both Asynchronous and Synchronous communications with speeds up to 33,600 bits per second using CTI’s 3780 bi-synchronous software and 230,400 bps using asynchronous software and V.42bis data compression.

Electronic I.P. Mailbox Client/Server System Overview

CTI’s FastSync® Mailbox System gives companies, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), financial institutions, divisions, departments, governmental offices, law firms, medical facilities or other types of operations a way to exchange data files quickly between inside and outside locations using either internal LAN links or high-speed modems over either standard dial-up or ISDN telephone lines --- no more delivering paper documents, floppy disks, cutting mag-tapes or midnight deliveries.   For a Technical Overview Click Here.   Toyota Corporation is a good example of a company who uses various FastSync mailbox systems.  The system provides a total file management audit trail for every file sent and/or received within the super hub mailbox system.  For example - who sent what and when - was the transmission successful - was it picked-up by the receiving party - when and where were the files archived - when were the files purged from the system - etc.  The FastSync Mailbox system is a powerful, microprocessor oriented Data Management and Store-and-Forward Mailbox System that supports data transmissions in a very secure client/server virtual FTP server application environment that would otherwise have to be handled by an expensive mainframe computer system.  The system may also be used as a Value-Added-Network (VAN).
