Quick Install for CTI's i232/SyncPack with Internal Synchronous Interface Card and FastSync 3780 Software |
i232/SyncPack® |
PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE PAGE BEFORE PROCEEDING. It is generally easier to install the FastSync 3780 software before installing the internal synchronous interface card (Sync-Card) required for FastSync software to run on your system. The installation program will help you install Sync-Card by analyzing your computer and allowing you to select the address and IRQ from a list of those not used by other hardware devices on your computer. More on Setting IRQs. See Site Preparation.
Attention Windows 95 and 98 users. If you plan on running the FastSync 3780 software program under a DOS WINDOW, you will find it best to bring-up your DOS Prompt (Click START, Click PROGRAMS, Click MS-DOS Prompt) and install the program from there.
An experienced user could also use the Windows Explorer program (Click START, CLICK PROGRAMS, Click Windows Explorer) to create a "3780" directory, then copy all the files from your FastSync 3780 Floppy Disk into the 3780 directory. However, doing it this way will not tell you what IRQs and I/O Addresses are available for the Sync-Card. And, if you decide to install the program this way, you will probably end up calling us for technical support.
These installation procedures assume that you have a personal computer with a hard disk drive and that you are installing the FastSync program from your floppy drive in drive "A:". If you plan on installing from a different floppy drive such as "B:" you must make the appropriate substitutions to the installation procedure described below.
Special Note to users who are installing the FastSync 3780 software for use with another software program. If you are using another company application software program (such as a Banking, Credit Union, or other application program), it may be necessary to install FastSync into a specific sub-directory. Know where you need to install FastSync 3780 files before you continue.
To install FastSync, run the program INSTALL.EXE on the floppy disk. You can either make the floppy drive your default drive, or you can run the install program by putting the drive letter and a colon (":") before the program name. For example, to install FastSync from the floppy drive A:, simply key in "A:INSTALL."
If your current drive is not a floppy drive, the installation program begins by informing you of your current drive and directory and asks if you want the FastSync software to be installed in that location. Press "Y" if that is the correct drive and directory, or any other key to change the drive and directory.
If the drive or directory displayed are not correct, or if your current default drive is a floppy drive, a screen appears where you can enter the drive and directory where you want the software to be installed. You must key in both the drive and directory. For example, if you want the software to be installed into a directory called "3780" on drive C:, key in "D:\3780" as the target for the installation.
If the directory does not exist, the installation program ask if you want the directory to be created. Press "Y" to create the directory and finish the installation. If you press any key other than the "Y" key, the installation program will end. You can restart the installation at any time.
The installation software copies the necessary files from the floppy disk and then automatically invokes the hardware configuration program, SETCARD.EXE.
Note: the INSTALL.EXE program is automatically removed from the floppy disk after the initial installation process. So if you mess-up the install, you will hereafter just copy all the files from the floppy disk to your destination directory and complete the installation from there.
