Resume - Ted Egan


Prior to moving his family to Naples, Florida in mid-1998 and starting his own software consulting business, Mr. Ted Egan was employed for 10 years with CTI Communications.  During his time with CTI, Mr. Egan was responsible for designing, coding and supporting CTI products including DOS, Windows and UNIX versions of CTI's FastSync 3780 software.  He developed special interfaces to Chrysler, General Motors (EDS) and Toyota CAD file exchange systems and a PC based Client/Server electronic mailbox communications front end/message router system using 3780 protocols. Mr. Egan designed and wrote the Client/Server Mailbox software used by Toyota Technical Center and its supplier base for CAD file exchange.  Mr. Egan programs in several languages including Assembler (DOS 3780 and Interface applications); C (Unix 3780 and Interface applications); and C++ (Windows based communications applications).

Prior to working with CTI, Mr. Egan developed training courses, wrote artificial intelligence applications, ported software from early micro computers to the IBM PC, and developed communications software for the IBM PC market.   Mr. Egan is proficient in the programming languages and compilers: Microsoft Visual C/C++, Borland C, IBM Assembly, Borland Turbo Prolog, Microsoft Basic; Cobol; IBM System 23 Basic; Fortran; and Workstation Basic.

Mr. Egan was previously employed with MarketTech (Division of American Financial Consulting Company). At MarketTech, Mr. Egan was the project manager of a team that designed an artificial intelligence system to automate the planning and design of a factory MAP (Manufacturing Automation Protocols) network.   Mr. Egan worked with the Greenwich Technologies Division of American Financial Consulting Co. where he wrote courses in MAP Network Planning, MAP Network Operation, MAP Network Administration, and MAP Network Maintenance.

Prior to this, Mr. Egan was employed at American Business Computer (now part of Sterling Software) where he converted an Automotive Release Accounting System from the IBM System 23 to the IBM PC by designing a communications interface between the IBM PC and the mainframes at the Automotive Big Three.  Mr. Egan designed and coded a link between the primary CTOS operating system and the MSDOS emulator on the Burroughs B20 series, modifying the 3780 software on the B20 to bring it into conformance with IBM's 3780 BSC RJE protocols.  He designed and wrote a bar code label printing program for printing AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group) bar code labels, a text editor, and terminal emulators in Microsoft Basic, C and IBM PC Assembly. He provided support (both on the telephone and on site) for users of ABC's software packages during installation and any subsequent data communications problems.

Mr. Egan is an Honors graduate (97.5 GPA) of Control Data Institute in computer programming and operations, with courses in Math, Engineering and Science at Michigan Technological University.  Mr. Egan's served with the U.S. Navy as a journalist where his duties included editor of base and ship newspapers, television and radio announcing and responsibility for public relations.   His passions are rock collecting and tending his tropical fish tanks.  Click for Ted's web site.
