INTRODUCTION

The SyncPack 2000i is a fully modular modem that accommodates the V.32bis 14,400 bits per second standard, and adds several major features and functions required by corporations throughout the industrialized world.

In addition to handling V.32bis 14,400 bps synchronous standards, the SyncPack 2000 handles the industry's older, well established communications standards including the Bell 201c (2,400 bps) and 208a/b (4,800 bps). These older data transmission standards cannot be abandoned because of current investment and/or on-going user demands.

SPECIAL FEATURES

The SyncPack features auto-detection (auto-sensing) and will automatically switch incoming synchronous modem signals between different on-board modem types (e.g., Bell 201c 2,400 bps, Bell 208b 4,800 bps, V.22bis 2,400 bps, V.32 9,600 bps, and V.32bis 14,400 bps). This feature allows a single modem to do the work that would normally require three or four separate modems.

Supports Asynchronous and all Synchronous data communications requirements. Operates over standard 2-wire Dial-Up (switched) Telephone Lines or 2 and 4-wire Leased Lines as well as over ISDN lines. A non-volatile RAM Phone Number Directory is standard.

A fully configured SyncPack 2000 includes several distinctive worldwide modem standards including: V.21; V.22; V.22bis; V.23; V.26bis; V.27; V.27ter; V.29; V.17 (FAX); V.32; V.32bis; Bell 103; 212a; 201b/c & 208a/b. MNP® is included for error correction and speed purposes.

Special Password Security as well as Call-Back security are standard to protect PCs and networks from unauthorized access. Network management is enhanced by the capability of Remote Configuration. The SyncPack also contains a unique Hardware Identifier feature to protect software applications from unauthorized copying.

Offers the full 128 character Hayes® compatible "AT" command set for both Asynchronous and Synchronous ensuring operation with most communications software packages. With appropriate software, you can easily connect the SyncPack to any of the Value Added Networks, E-mail Net works, or to the many worldwide corporate mainframe computers supporting applications such as:

Easy Installation and Configuration. The SyncPack modem board simply fits into one of the bus slots within a personal computer. All of the I/O (Addressing) and IRQ (Interrupt 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, & 15) settings are made through the SyncPack's modem board back-plate while the SyncPack remains installed inside the computer. There is never a need to open the PC and remove the board to change board IRQ and I/O settings.

Advanced Asynchronous Configuration. Setting-up COM Ports on the SyncPack 2000 for asynchronous communications is very flexible. Any available IRQ can be specified where allowed by the communications software package. Therefore, COM Ports 1, 2, 3, and 4 are no longer locked into only IRQs 3 and 4.

Special DES/SyncPack Chip (NIST DES Encryption w/64-bit key) optional for users requiring maximum data security in Asynchronous mode. Ideal for protecting confidential data such as Payroll, Electronic Banking Fund Transfers, Government Files, CAD files, Medical and Insurance Data.

High-Speed External RS-232 Connector. The SyncPack's hardware is equipped with the ability to connect external modems through an optional high-speed external RS-232 port. This port allows for connecting higher speed leased line type modems (e.g., 28,800 bps), plus Terminal Adapters for ISDN (64,000 bps - 128,000 bps) line speed capabilities.

OTHER INFORMATION

Programming Considerations.

This section may be of interest to software houses who want to use their software with the SyncPack 2000i (V.32bis version).

Access full 128 character Hayes AT command set in both Asynchronous and Synchronous.

Non-volatile storage of both Asynchronous and Synchronous configuration registers. Up-load and Down-load commands, configuration registers, dial sequences and script files from the PC to allow connection with a wide range of modems --- provides unlimited dial sequence storage.

"On/Off" soft-switch configuration mode eliminates the need for binary/hexadecimal arithmetic.

AT Command Set profiling allows the SyncPack to emulate the user interface of any other modem (e.g., Mircocom®, Rockwell® or other such modems).

Modem "AT" Set-Up string: AT&F&C1&D2S40= =--11--11.
