Tweaking the Windows 95 and 98 Systems for some 3780 Bi-synchronous Communications (BSC) Linkages

For DOS (Non-GUI) 3780 Users

It is usually best to make certain adjustments to the Windows environment to maximize the performance of the Hayes® OPTIMABusiness modem when using their AutoSync protocol.

Fix #1 - Adjusting Idle Sensitivity

If you are experiencing problems like being knocked-off the line, the connection is being dropped, etc., try this fix:

  1. Right click on the desk-top icon you are using to kick-off your program.
  2. Select Properties.  You will see several different Tabs.
  3. Select the Misc. tab.
  4. Uncheck the "Allow Screen Saver" box, then
  5. Move the Idle Sensitivity bar to Low.
  6. Select OK.
  7. You are done.

If these directions do not seem to work in your individual case, please contact CTI (208-769-7000) and ask for Technical Support.
