Y2K (Year 2000) Statement of Compliance from CTI Communications |
What is this "Year 2000" issue usually referred to as "Y2K?" Basically, on January 1, 2000, many of the world's computers, most of which were programmed to read years as two-digit numbers, will suddenly be confounded by the figure "00" that could mean either 2000 or 1900. Both as a Corporation and as a provider of strategic communications software to their customers, CTI takes this Y2K problem very seriously. Outlined below are compliance statements pertaining to the company's internal Y2K compliance and compliance in terms of all software products distributed to CTI customers.
CTI's Internal Compliance. CTI has run Y2K tests on their internal business computers used to operate the day to day operations including applications affecting areas such as Marketing and Sales, Purchasing, Engineering and Product Design. Some computers did not meet the Y2K requirements and they were replaced by computers and/or operating systems which appear to handle the Y2K time issues. There are still a few older PCs that do not meet Y2K requirements, but these are not critical for the day to day company operation. However, CTI plans on replacing such PCs by January 1, 2000. In other words, CTI will be totally compliant with Y2K requirements. In summary, CTI intends that its internal business systems and distributed software used prior to, during and after the calendar year 2000 A.D. will operate consistently, predictably and accurately, without interruption or manual intervention, and in accordance with all requirements of the related documentation, including without limitation all specifications and/or functionality and performance requirements, during each such time period, and the transitions between them, in relation to dates it encounters or processes.
CTI's Distributed Software Products. Customers using CTI's software products must concern themselves with CTI's software as well as their own computer (PC) hardware meeting Y2K Compliance. Obviously, CTI has no control over whether or not a customer up-grades their hardware. In terms of CTI's software products, there are two groups. 1) 2780/3780 BSC (Bisynchronous), and 2) TCP/IP Mailbox software (including the Post Office Server and Mailbox Client packages).
2780/3780 Communications Software: In the case of CTI's FastSync®3780 protocol product, Version 3.5 (Release 02218 and later) has been tested and meets Y2K compliance. Further, it has been tested and approved by one of the largest financial software houses in the U.S. who uses the CTI FastSync 3780 product within the marketplace. Customers may up-grade to CTI's Y2K Compliant FastSync 3780 software for under $100.00. Other, older, versions and prior releases of 3780Fast software that are no longer sold and/or supported may or may not meet Y2K compliance - these versions/releases should be immediately replaced by CTI's FastSync 3780 current software.
Electronic Mailbox System Software: In the case of CTI's TCP/IP based Electronic Hub Mailbox Systems (both Client and Server software), CTI has tested, up-dated and approved the software as being Y2K compliant as well as the 3780 based Mailbox System (both Client and Server Software versions). It should be noted however, that Microsoft has acknowledged that certain NT Servers along with certain application software packages such as Access do not handle the Y2K issues at this time. Nevertheless, CTI has made specific software programming code changes to counter Y2K issues in the Access Database to ensure proper reporting within the TCP/IP Post Office Server Administrator software.
Other CTI Software Packages: Only one other software package from CTI is known to be time dependent - the Windows 95, 98 and NT based Event-Scheduler. This package was modified in 1998 to fix Y2K compatibility issues and no known packages exist in the field that do not meet Y2K compliance.
If you are using CTI's FastSync 2780/3780 communications products check your Version and Release Numbers. If either the Version is earlier than 3.5, or if the Release date before February 21, 1998, please download an Order Form (click here), fill it in, and FAX it to CTI for processing. And, all older Versions of CTI's 3780Fast package should be replaced before January 1, 2000.
Please Note: CTI has thousands of customers who have purchased its software products over the years. CTI has not, and does not plan to contact these customers individually. Starting in early 1998, CTI began sending Y2K Compliance information to all customers being invoiced for Annual Technical Support & Maintenance. Many customers may not receive Y2K information because they have not renewed their Annual Technical Support & Maintenance Agreement. CTI plans to continue sending Y2K information well into the year 2000 to its current customer base who are maintaining their Annual Support. However, your company, business or institution may not have renewed their Annual Support and accordingly has not received the CTI Y2K information. CTI considers it a company's individual corporate responsibility to determine whether or not it is compliant with Y2K requirements. If you are not sure, feel free to contact CTI at 248-540-4600 and we will be happy to check our records.
Let us all have a smooth transition. Thank you.
